I've always wondered about the cover of Swords. Aside from Morrissey looking pained, there's something a little unusual going on.
On the back cover, Morrissey is clearly wearing two watches. On the front, he is covering the right watch with his left hand.
Are these more (missed) MW-related signs? Let's do what conspiracy theorists do best and go down the rabbit hole of Illuminati theory,
The Watchers go by various names and if you have the time and the inclination you can read David Icke's lengthy essay on them here. The Eye of Horus and the Eye of Providence can be associated with all this as being symbols of The Watchers. As we know from the previous blob post, this can be symbolized through the Hidden Eye (and is a common gesture with pop stars). The Watchers might be Fallen Angels, Nephilim, our Reptilian Shapeshifting overlords or whatever takes your delusional fantasy.
So, here we have Morrissey wearing two watches on the back cover of Swords. This image is necessary so that we can see he is covering a watch on the front. Like the Hidden Eye and The Hidden Hand, is The Hidden Watch Morrissey's creative reference to the Illuminati/Eye of Providence/Hidden Eye/Eye of Horus/Nephilim/shapeshifting reptilian symbolism?
But wait, there's more! We know that Morrissey likes his typefaces and on Swords the W appears as a double V. Why? Well, a V or chevron is also an occult symbol (hence the reference to Roy's Keen's triangle and circle in the previous blob post).
Going back a bit, I mentioned the Nephilim and I'm reminded of It's Hard To Walk Tall When You're Small. Is this a reference to humanity in comparison to our supposed gargantuan overlords? I doubt it, but we should rarely let skepticism or reality get into the way of MW-related theories.
But I'm getting ahead of myself. We'll visit an alternative analysis to some specific songs (from the Maladjusted era) in my next blob post.
